Just a brief note on the word “ MPEG“: The Moving Picture Experts Group, MPEG, is a working group of authorities that was formed in 1988 by the standard organization ISO, The International Organization for Standardization, and IEC,the International Electrotechnical Commission, to set standards for audio and video compression and transmission. Used and trusted by giants such as YouTube, Netflix or Vimeo, FFMPEG has been developed and refined since December 2000, and continues to be refined, expanded and revised. FFMPEG is a creation of Fabrice Bellard and one of the fastest video and image processors on earth. In this post I will go thru some basic terms and basic concepts of FFMPEG, which by the way, stands for “ Fast- Forward- Moving- Picture- Experts- Group”.
